The Sidekick

So Jenni and I are working out tonight and our favorite gym rat is there, The Flexer. He was accompanied by his little sidekick brother. He is one of the three major crew members. Tonight was The Sidekick's night.

He is probably 13 if I had to guess. I don't think he has even hit puberty yet. I would say he weighs around 100 lbs wearing a wet snowsuit and carrying his mom's purse. As The Flexer is working out, The Sidekick generally messes around. He does a set of something here and there, hops on a treadmill for a couple of minutes and all around just wastes time. He's a chip off the ol' Flexer's block when it comes to one thing though...his attitude. He is as arrogant as his big bro. He apparently doesn't know exactly how scrawny he is. We are talking my size when I was his age, scrawny. A toothpick. So there he is lifting up his shirt to check out his ripped abs and flexing his python of an arm. A regular He-Man. I witnessed the poses. What I didn't witness was the conversation that Arnold and Lou had. I was running on the treadmill with my headphones on, but when I got off Jenni filled me in.

As he was flexing, apparently the conversation went like this:

Sikekick: "I am getting big."

The Flexer: "You aren't big, you're just ripped."

Sidekick: "No really, I can tell I'm getting bigger."

The Flexer: "Don't even think you are big until you look like me."

When I thought it couldn't get any worse. Now there is double trouble. Let me tell you, Jenni and I are afraid to go in there just praying they aren't working out because their massive frames practically block out all the light in the room. I think they may workout somewhere else soon anyway because obviously they don't have weights heavy enough there for these two mountains of muscle. It really is unbelievable. And that is how the night ended, the two specimens sharing conceded remarks as they got into their mom's minivan and drove away.

THE SIDEKICK!

Love it, good for him. He needs to get a little confidence. I did think he was getting bigger. Next time we should tell him so when we see him.
