The Handy Man

Well, it's been a very long time since I've posted on the blog. It's mainly because my life isn't that special and there isn't much to write about. Just "Work and Church" as they say. But lately Jenni has been on a mission. This happened once before when we lived in Waterloo. When we found out Cory and Mindy (and family) were coming to visit she got into this mode too. All of the sudden the house had to be redone. Rooms painted, light fixtures changed, yards groomed, etc. Like we were prepping for a visit from the pope himself. Well the same thing has happened here in Sioux City. Granted all of these things are plans we have made to do and fix, just not done all at once. My good friend and college roommate, Nate and his wife Kristy, are coming to visit in July. Since Jenni found that out, we have made major changes to the house. We got a new dishwasher, painted the living room, entry, and a bathroom. We are getting new carpet and new flooring for then entry and kitchen. Our yard has been seeded, fertilized, patched up, and flowers have been planted. Next is getting the pool up and running. It has been a crazy few weeks with a few more to come. In the meantime, I have done some things I have never done before. I installed the dishwasher myself. Which includes plumbing and electrical. I also put a new shower head and fixture in which also was some plumbing I don't do. Both were battles of epic proportions. Lots of frustration, trips to Lowes, blood, sweat, and maybe a tear. But so far I am undefeated. Like they say, "You never know until you try."

I'm trying to get my golf game into shape before my big Le Tour De Iowa in June. I've only been out a couple of times so far and it has been windy as hell every time. So I'm not sure what status my golf game is in at this point. Hopefully I can get out this holiday weekend a bunch. Mark and I went to Demo Days at Whispering Creek today. We just went out to the driving range there and reps from all of the major golf brands were there. You can test out all of their equipment and see what you like. If anything, its a free practice session at the range. I'm a Ping man myself and have been dreaming of a new set of irons for years now. I was pretty excited to hit a few sets and I know which ones I want if Jenni ever gives me the green light.

Not much else going on. Kind of a rant, I know. No good stories to tell at the moment.

I know a bunch of people really liked the movie August Rush. I, unfortunately, just thought it was ok. It was a great idea, great ending, but not very well written. Some parts were kind of corny and hard to believe for me. Anyways, just my opinion. I'm not knocking you if you liked it. I bring this up because if you want to see the real thing you need to check Andy Mckee out on www.youtube.com He is really, really amazing. I love good acoustic guitar playing and this guy is on another level.
