Wow, has it been a half a year since my last post? Boy time flies. I had planned on writing a little end of the year summary at the end of the year, obviously, but my computer had not been working until yesterday. So I will write it now. Better late than never. Along with writing the end of year summary on January 19th, I am also going to summarize the last year and a half instead of just 2008. So here we go....
Upgrades
Recently my life has been filled with nothing but upgrades. We moved back to the Sioux City area from Waterloo a year ago this past May. I was very sad to leave a job I liked and lots and lots of friends I had made. Plus I liked Eastern Iowa and the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area as a whole. With that said, the transition was a good decision and the right thing to do. We moved into a bigger, nicer house in Sioux City in a much, much nicer neighborhood. Serious upgrade there. Jenni and I both found jobs that are better than the ones we left, both pay and opportunity wise. We are much closer to both of our families which has been great. Travis and Nicole also moved to Sioux City from Iowa City which made things better for us too. We loved going down to Iowa City to visit them and the Anderson's.
Aside from the new house, we have both upgraded our vehicles since we moved. Jenni from an '99 Hyundai Sonata to a '09 Toyota Corrola Sport. Me from a '00 POS Chevy Blazer to a sweet '06 Toyota Highlander Limited. UPGRADE!
This past year I took it upon myself to get in shape and I was actually successful. I lost 40 pounds this year and I feel great. I also picked up a new hobby of running and participating in races around the area. They are a really good time.
We have made some new friends since we have moved back too. Jenni works at Ann Taylor part time and has made lots of friends there. My job, not so much on the friend side. Not really allowed to socialize too much (not at all) during work. So making friends is tough. We like to spend time with Craig and Nicki mostly. Nicki works with Jenni at Ann Taylor and Craig is the trainer for the Sioux City Musketeers hockey team. He also works at Austads Golf in the summer, which is obviously right up my alley.
Instead of going to Iowa Football games, we go to Musketeer hockey games. While it isn't an upgrade, it is still really fun and something to do.
Our families have grown as well. Since we have moved back, Travis and Nicole had a baby girl, Olivia. They are expecting another this coming June. Jenni and I are the Godparents to OG, and we couldn't be happier about that. Jeremy and Gina also had another baby, Brynn just this December.
And to top it all off, Jenni and I are expecting our first child this August. The biggest upgrade of all!
